4th of July Fireworks and Events

Looking for local fireworks shows, events or things to do on the 4th?  Here is a quick list!  Our favorites are always the Mall fireworks show as well as a ‘home-made’ fireworks show at theGardner lake!  Where ever you go to see fireworks or celebrate – enjoy the time with your family!

Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm
Independence Day 19th Century Style
When: July 2, 10- 4
Where: 1200 Kansas City Road in Olathe, Kansas
Hours Open Wednesday through Saturday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday: 12 p.m.-4 p.m. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. 19th century baseball, music and a reading of the Declaration of Independence and cannon firing. Admission is free but donations are requested.

The Great Mall of the Great Plains will host Olathe, KS’ public fireworks display at approximately 9:45 pm.
When: July 4

Powell Gardens Booms and Blooms 2013
Under 5 free, Adults 12, seniors $12, kids 5-12 $10
All day admission to the gardens including Heartland Harvest garden and Nature Connects exhibit, trolley and parking. There will be performances and children’s activities, including live music beginning at 4:30 pm. 7:30 Lee’s Summit Symphony will perform patriotic favorites. After the symphony or at dark, approximately 9:30pm fireworks show will begin.

Paola Fireworks Spectacular
Where: Miola Lake 22470 W 299th St Paola, KS
When: July 3rd gates open at 4:30 p.m. fireworks begin at dusk

Celebrate America at Worlds of Fun
Where: Worlds of Fun 4545 Worlds of Fun Dr. Kansas City , MO
When: July 4, 5, and every Saturday in July
Fireworks show on Thursday, July 4, Friday, July 5th PLUS every Saturday in July! Fireworks begin at 10 pm. Please Note: On Thursday, July 4th, Worlds of Fun Avenue will be closed from 7:30 p.m. to Midnight. The pick-up and drop off area will be moved to Oceans of Fun’s parking area and will be accessible to guests of both parks.

KC Riverfest

July 4th in Gardner
When: Celebration Park 32701 W. 159th St. Gardner, KS
Where: July 4, 2013 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm
“The July 4th fireworks display and activities will take place at Celebration Park. Families will be able to enjoy the large playground, picnic shelters and trails while they wait for the big show! Additionally there will a DJ playing your favorite songs along with inflatable for the children to enjoy. The Color Guard will be present as well as the local orchestra to join in on the ceremonies. Tailgating in the parking lot is welcomed. Fireworks will begin around sundown.”

Jackson County’s 4th of July Celebration

Overland Park Star Spangled Spectacular
Where: Corporate Woods Overland Park, KS
When: July 4, 2013 4:00 pm until 11:00 pm
“Overland Park Rotary’s 4th of July Star Spangled Spectacular is a community celebration, fund raiser, and civic service event. As one of Corporate Woods’ and the City of Overland Park’s premier gatherings, the event draws an estimated one hundred thousand people in the immediate and surrounding areas to share camaraderie, music, family activities to celebrate our country’s birth and veterans. The event raises money for three local charities selected annually as well as the Overland Park Rotary Club Foundation. One sponsor hosts several hundred wounded and service disabled veterans, along with their families, in honor of their service to our country. The Star Spangled Spectacular helps Overland Park Rotary fulfill itsMission of “SERVICE ABOVE SELF”. This year marks the 22nd annual event presented by Rotary Club Overland Park. In case of rain, the rain date is Friday night, July 5. There will be fireworks only – same time and same place.”

Independence Day at Missouri Town
Where: Missouri Town 1855 8010 E Park Rd Blue Springs, MO

Village Fest
Where: 77th & Mission Prairie Village, KS
When: July 4, 2013 7:30 am until 1:00 pm
The festivities will begin at 7:30 am with a Pancake Breakfast ($5/plate) supplied by Chris Cakes. Other activities throughout the day will include: NEW Mobile Zip Line, Headstrong for Jake Bike Rodeo, Patriotic Service, Children’s Parade – bring your bikes, trikes, wagons & roller skates! No registration required. Trackless Train, YMCA Kids Tumbling Area, Child Craft Center, Inflatable slides and obstacle courses, Climbing Wall, Face Painting & Wacky Hair, Petting Zoo and Pony Rides, Clement McCrae Puppets, Displays and demonstrations by Police and Fire District #2 and LIVE MUSIC throughout the day.
